New Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou said he hoped his vision for the Premier League club could persuade talisman Harry Kane to stay but added that he had not received any assurances about the striker's future.
"I doubt it's going to be defining in the way people think it will be. I just want to introduce myself to Harry, give him my vision for the football club and then go on the training pitch and make it happen. The north London club missed out on European football for the first time since the 2009-10 season and also failed to end their 15-year trophy drought.
Postecoglou was not the popular choice for Spurs manager, with fans pointing to him having relatively little experience in European football compared to Julian Nagelsmann and Arne Slot, who were also linked with the job.
