There were reports a person fell into the River Aire last week
It was reported a person fell into the river, near Crown Point Bridge, last Thursday at about 5.30pm. This was during particularly stormy weather when there was a yellow weather warning in place with month's worth of rain falling in just 42 hours.
Two other people had fallen into the water during this time, resulting one tragic death of a woman in her 30s and the other rescued by a member of the public.Specialist teams were dispatched to the river and officers reviewed CCTV footage to find out what had happened. Today , West Yorkshire Police's Regional and Underwater Search Team was spotted in Leeds Dock, combing the area for any signs of a body. The force had a van, a boat and two police cars in attendance at about 2pm.
Last week, West Yorkshire Police said: "Further enquiries are being made today following a report received yesterday afternoon that a person had entered the River Aire near to Crown Point Bridge in Leeds. "No persons are believed to have been rescued from the river since this report was received at about 5.30pm and officers are conducting CCTV enquiries in the area today to establish the full circumstances of what has occurred. Specialist teams are also assisting with a river search."
