In a statement released on the Pirates website on Thursday, Bob Maphosa, Football Sports Marketing and PR Manager at adidas SA said, “Our designers ensured that players remain feeling cool on the field of play with a new innovation that optimizes sweat distribution and maximise airflow.”
“The new jersey is made with 100% recycled materials and features the latest in adidas temperature regulation innovation, AERO.RDY – KEEP COOL, which is designed to keep players feeling cool, dry, and confident during play,” Pirates added. Thandi Merafe, Media and PR Manager at Pirates went on to state that they are excited to launch the new jerseys with their long-standing technical sponsor adidas.
“This season signifies a major milestone in the Club’s long and proud history, with this being our 85th anniversary year,” she said as Pirates also have a ladies and kids range. The Soweto giants will wear the new jersey for the first time when they open their DStv Premiership campaign against rivals Swallows on 5 August at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
