Valerie would quickly enter remission only to have the cancer show up again in 1996. She would need a bone marrow transplant.“That’s when it got real, for me," added Alex, who also runs the family business, Skye View Farms.She’d go through a third bout with the disease in 2002.Suddenly, the tumour started to shrink before ultimately disappearing.Alex, left, and Valerie Docherty of Elmwood, P.E.I.

Alex and Valerie decided to share their story in the hopes it might inspire others to consider the gift of life insurance the same way they were inspired by others who gave before them. Alex is quick to add that a life insurance gift can be much smaller than $1 million, adding that he’s already got some friends thinking about their own donations.
