The South African Weather Service says widespread disruptive rain of over 500mm and thundershowers are expected in KwaZulu-Natal.
has issued an orange level 6 warning for disruptive rain in KwaZulu-Natal.The weather service said widespread to scattered showers and thundershowers are expected over KwaZulu-Natal from Saturday persisting into Sunday where widespread rainfall is expected over most parts of the province.
“Most areas are expecting rainfall accumulation of over 50mm over the southern parts as well as the midlands where flooding can be expected due to persistent rainfall, with areas in the south-east expecting significant impacts,” the weather service said.A weather warning for disruptive rain with potential flooding was issued for KwaZulu-Natal TODAY.
“Whilst cut-off lows are typically efficient producers of rain, often of a heavy nature, these systems also have a reputation for causing widespread severe weather such as flooding, heavy rainfall, and severe thunderstorms. “Widespread showers and thundershowers can be expected over parts of the Western and Eastern Cape on Saturday, shifting eastwards on Sunday, when continuing to affect the Eastern Cape,” SAWS said.
