City staff have the go-ahead to collaborate with the Saskatoon Tribal Council on some kind of outdoor space for clients at the STC’s downtown wellness centre. The 75-bed shelter operates out of a city-owned building at 145 First Avenue North on a temporary basis, while the STC seeks sites for permanent facilities.

Monday’s motion would allow for setting up something akin to the patios some downtown restaurants have outside their buildings. Ward 4 Coun. Troy Davies said he’s spoken to Tribal Chief Mark Arcand about the idea. He told council the STC wants something similar to Hudsons pub on Fourth Avenue, with a walkway allowing pedestrians to go around freely.
