Louis Oosthuizen, one of three South Africans in the Masters field, is anxiously looking towards the skies as he starts the first round at opening major of the year.

Having joined the new upstart golf tour LIV last year, Oosthuizen thought he had missed out on a place at the Masters as he did not qualify for world ranking points and slipped outside the top 50, which is the cut-off point to receive an invite to the Masters. He was, however, looking strong in one of the final tournaments of the year, as he was within the top five with a hole to play in the Alfred Dunhill Championship in Leopard Creek.

"But fortunately for me there were other guys that were falling out and I went from 51 to 49, it was massive.Oosthuizen said that even if he failed to qualify for the Masters in the future, he would watch it.
