Erika Germain is an Ontario-based artist who was selected as the 2022 Cape Breton Highlands National Park artist in residence. E. Madinsky/Parks Canada - E. Madinsky Parks CanadaINGONISH, N.S. — Erika Germain was ecstatic when she found out she was the 2022 Cape Breton Highlands National Park artist in residence.
Germain received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, where she graduated as valedictorian. She received her Master of Fine Arts from Cornell University. During her six-week residency, which began on Oct. 1, Erika Germain created these pieces. Her art investigates issues related to rituals, community, religion, and social practice through an exploration of translation, language and poetry. E. Madinsky/Parks Canada - E. Madinsky
“Providing exposure to the arts in a rural Cape Breton community is important for all residents,” said Burke.
