The incident is believed to have happened at the Grand Africa Café & Beach in Granger Bay, a venue that previously featured in an extortion case over the control of security services at some Cape Town venues:
, via a statement, that a shootout took place in the parking lot, shortly before 2am on Sunday, after the establishment had closed.
“Security personnel asked the individual to please remove his helmet. As an unprovoked response, the suspect shot at the security officer, injuring him. Our security function is outsourced.” According to the statement, more security personnel, police and medical workers were on the scene within minutes.
