Groups working to pass and defeat State Issue 2 have filed reports detailing their campaign spending ahead of the Nov. 7 election. , the recreational marijuana initiative, new state disclosures show, while a collection of state manufacturers are behind the lightly-funded campaign to defeat it.
The report disclosed two additional contributors who gave $275,000, but listed them as “unknown,” which is illegal under state law. The pro-Issue 2 campaign’s largest expense was the $370,000 it spent on digital advertising, with the rest going to pay for consultants, yard signs and polling. The groupto qualify for the ballot, including paying petitioners to collect hundreds of thousands of required voter signatures and associated legal expenses. That spending also was funded by marijuana business and advocacy groups.
