NPA Amendment Bill: Greater independence so proposed IDAC doesn't meet same fate as Scorpions
Security clearances could be"weaponised" against investigators of the proposed permanent body to investigate state capture cases, the National Prosecuting Authority told Parliament as work on the National Prosecuting Authority Amendment Bill got under way with concerns about the body's independence highlighted.
The NPA and several civil society organisations delivered submissions on the bill to the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services, and the committee heard their oral presentations on Wednesday. The bill was introduced in August.
