Health officials said more details about the additional booster closer will be available closer to the date of the rollout, but fall dose appointments for those 12 and older will be available in mid-September.
Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia's chief medical officer of health, said it is important to get any vaccine dose available as immunity from previous COVID-19 infection decreases over time. "The combined protection from up-to-date vaccinations and COVID-19 infection can provide stronger immunity than from infection or vaccination alone," said Strang.
"The COVID-19 vaccines available to us help to reduce severe outcomes, making it important for all Nova Scotians to get vaccinated as we are seeing more and more people becoming reinfected with COVID-19."or by calling 1-833-797-7772. Vaccine scheduling by phone is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
