The awards celebrate the best food and drink across the East Midlands

Foodie gems in Nottinghamshire have been honoured in the 2023 Great Food Club Awards. A shop, a bakery and a cafe came out top in the accolades celebrating the outstanding range of food and drink across the East Midlands.

The shop also stocks deli products including biscuits for the cheese, sauces, beer and wine. In a cafe at the back customers can grab a coffee, lunch or an artisan cheese board. Welbeck rarebit is a favourite - made with Montgomery's cheddar, and Welbeck Abbey Brewery Red Feather ale, served on a toasted slice of Welbeck Bakehouse's bread. Sautéed mushrooms on toast with poached Cacklebean eggs is another popular dish.

Matt Wright, founder of the Great Food Club, said: "The reason we created Great Food Club was to shine a light on the unsung heroes in the East Midlands, those independent food and drink businesses quietly going about their business doing amazing things. We are lucky to have a fantastic mix of producers, delis, farm shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants here in the East Midlands.
