The Northern Cape wants to attract more projects like Poachers Moon to film in the province.
A new feature film, Poachers Moon, is currently being shot in the Northern Cape. The story is based on the collective unwritten history of South Africa and a fragile relationship between young boys from different races.This is a story of hope, a story of a black boy and a white young boy growing up in a farm and having to navigate social issues. It tells a story of just two innocent little boys having to navigate life with all the challenges,” says the Director of the film Mqondisi Ngubane.
A feature film titled “Poachers Moon,” focusing on poaching and interracial friendship during apartheid, is being shot in the Northern Cape. Written by Tom Datnow, it aims to provide economic benefits through short-term employment for locals and raise awareness of the…The film benefits the locals, as most of the cast and crew are locals, and workshops to transfer skills are also being held.
However, filmmakers say while the province offers beautiful natural arts and raw talent, it is a logistical challenge to make movies in it.“That’s what we have to do as the provincial government, to look at this opportunity and ask ourselves a difficult question: ‘What is it that we can do to attract more such opportunities to our province?’ and you won’t be able to do that if you don’t have a strategy.
