A new mall in Kuruman , Northern Cape , the Segonyana Mall, is on schedule to open in November 2025. The construction of the mall officially started on 2 December 2024 after years of planning and multiple delays. The Moolman Group is managing the project. Kuruman lies virtually on the edge of the Kalahari at the foot of a range of low hills. It is a popular place to stop for tourists because of the scenery and unspoilt nature.
Also, because it lies on the main route between Gauteng and Namibia/Cape Town via Upington, many people travelling stop there. Kuruman is a fairly small town but a bustling one. In addition to its scenery, many people know it for the . In addition to anchor tenants Shoprite and Boxer, shoppers can look forward to popular retailers such as Sheet Street, Home Choice, Total Sports, Sportscene, Mr Price, Pep, Markhams, and Choice Clothing. Currently, there are 34 stores lined up to open in the mall. The 3.1-hectare site is conveniently located at the corner of Tsening Road and Bree Street, directly opposite the taxi rank. Spanning approximately 11 000 square metres of gross lettable area, the mall will feature a single-level parking facility for easy access. Segonyana Mall will boost local economic growth, generating much-needed jobs during and after construction. Pieter Beyers from the Moolman Group said thatis ‘an investment in the community’s future, providing modern infrastructure that complements the town’s growth and strengthens its position as an economic and social hub in the Northern Cape’.
