Cst. Jay Barban facing motor vehicle charge following 2021 collision near Bear Lake
The BC Prosecution Service has approved charges against a North District RCMP officer for driving without due care and attention.
The first appearance on this matter is scheduled for September 21, 2022 in Prince George Provincial Court. In July, the Independent Investigations Office forwarded its findings from the collision to the BCPS for consideration of charges. The car's driver was transported to the hospital with what were initially believed to be minor injuries. But on April 29, 2022, the IIO was notified that the injuries were serious enough to spark an investigation.
