Before the CFL got things mostly right, Wednesday was a day with twists and turns if you follow the Calgary Stampeders or the league.
What was strange, though, and didn’t pass the smell test, was that somehow not a single Stampeders offensive lineman was named to the West Division all-star team.
Those are two stats we traditionally use to track the strength and effectiveness of an o-line, and the Stamps crushed the rest of the league in both.Maybe that should have tipped everyone off that something had gone profoundly wrong. We’d find out later that the CFL had miscalculated its all-star voting and needed to re-send its list of winners.
“We understand o-line is a nuanced position. Most people, even football fanatics and people whose lives go around football, they may not understand offensive line and that’s alright, because we know what we’ve done as a group this year and we’re really proud of ourselves.”Article content
