Saskatchewan\u0027s youth curlers will have a tour to call their own starting this fall.
CurlSask’s new Junior Curling Tour of Saskatchewan — designed to grow the game at the grassroots and elite levels — arrives as pandemic restrictions ease, and the sport tries to rebound from a couple of strange years.
The new tour covers off U15 triples, U18 fours, and — in a collaboration with the already-established Junior Slam Series — U21 fours and mixed doubles. “The more I looked at it,” he said, “the more I figured, ‘Gee, it’s got to be tough to schedule if you’re a young team coming through those junior ages.’ It’s got to be tough to schedule when a bunch of stuff isn’t in one place, and you can’t look and see and visualize what you want to do. Schedules for the 2022-23 tour season have been posted on the CurlSask website, and Simmons says a few more events may come on board.
