Everton forward Nicoline Sorensen reflects on the Blues' start to the Women's Super League season
When the final whistle sounded at Anfield on October 15, the significance of the afternoon's victory was not lost on Everton forward Nicoline Sorensen.
After playing 73 minutes of Everton's most recent dispatch of Liverpool, Sorensen left the pitch to a standing ovation from the travelling support. And the fact she was replaced by Toni Duggan - who missed the entirety of last season due to pregnancy - which made the moment even more poignant. That Merseyside derby victory has, without doubt, been the highlight of Everton's season so far. After impressing under new manager Brian Sorensen last term, Everton have struggled to find consistency in the early weeks of the new campaign.
"I’m not worried or anything, I don’t think any of us are worried here. We just need to find a solution to what we’ve been struggling with but I think we’re on the right path." "We’re growing as a team and we’ve got new players that we’re still getting into the team. We know new players don’t just settle in in a week. It takes time to get to know each other and I think we’re doing that so hopefully the results will come soon."
"In terms of my own performance, I think I still have a way to go but I think that’s just me as a footballer. I think I’m now at the level I was before my injury and have been for a bit of time. I feel really good on the pitch. But I always want to get better."
