A new Chinese brand called LDV is set to open showroom floors in South Africa, offering a bakkie for the market.
It hit South Africa 's big screen in 1993 or 1994. It was quite an impressive movie at the time and, arguably, to this day.
As a young car enthusiast, I remember it for one thing: the heavily kitted Mercedes-Benz SUVs. Until then, Mercedes-Benz, for me, was the 190E 1.8 a friend of mine's parents had or the W124 E-Class my uncle drove – not this cumbersome, top-heavy SUV. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future. News24 has kept the country informed for 25 years, and we're about to enter a new chapter of fearless journalism.
