The UN refugee agency, UNHCR, and partners on Thursday appealed for $1.4 billion this year to support more than two million South Sudanese refugees in five African countries and local communities hosting them.
South Sudanese refugees living in Kenya's Kakuma camp buy produce to sell from a farm run by both Kenyans and refugees.
A similar number of people in local communities in the five countries will benefit from services and support. Humanitarian partners will build on gains already made with host Governments and regional bodies to improve the protection environment for refugees and asylum-seekers through enhanced access to asylum and civil documentation.
