Last season, the Nets entered as title favorites before getting promptly blown out in their season debut. And while expectations are lower in this encore campaign, they still enter the opener Wednesday as short home favorites against the frisky Pelicans.
The Nets’ offseason was the definition of dysfunction, what with star forward Kevin Durant requesting a trade that engulfed the entire world before retracting that two months later.
