Orange-coloured directional highway signs, pylons aplenty, flashing detour signs and as much advanced warning as possible will alert motorists coming from Sydney, North Sydney and the ferry terminal, Baddeck and the mainland, as well as Sydney Mines. All should be visible during daylight hours, Tilley said.
“My husband and I were coming from Sydney and we were already in the roundabout, and there were two vehicles coming from Sydney Mines that just ran through the yield signs,” the Alder Point resident said Thursday. “The drivers of those vehicles didn’t even attempt to slow down and totally cut us off.
“All the exits and intersections need appropriate lighting,” she said via email. “It’s extremely dark at the Newfoundland ferry exit. Yes, people need to be cautious but if they can’t see where to go that’s a problem.
