The inquiry began after Tyson was accused of improper conduct by Katelyn Allers, an associate professor at Bucknell University, and Tyson’s own Cosmos assistant, Ashley Watson

Allers claimed Tyson groped her at a 2009 party in the course of examining her tattoo of the solar system, while Watson alleged that Tyson made inappropriate advances and physical contact during a work-related visit to his apartment. The article also reiterated an earlier allegation fromthat Tyson raped her in 1984 during their graduate school tenure at the University of Texas, Austin.
Amet, a black woman, offered significantly more pushback to the museum’s decision to continue employing Tyson. “If Neil deGrasse Tyson had raped a white woman, he would not be on TV anymore, and this woman would have received a settlement,” she stated.
