Progressive Conservative Interim Leader David Brazil. -SaltWire Network file photoST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The leader of the province's opposition is speaking out about the high cost of home heating fuel in the province and the additional increase that will come with the carbon tax slated for July 1.
He said that many seniors and families find the cost unaffordable and are turning down their heat to make their fuel last longer. Brazil also highlighted how the price of home heating fuel will increase again when the carbon tax is applied. He noted that this year the price will increase by another 17 cents per litre, resulting in an additional $150 per tank for those who are already struggling to pay for heating fuel.
