A woman has died from her injuries after a fatal car crash in Elizabeth.

A 54-year-old woman has died as a result of serious injuries caused in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday morning, Jan. 2, at on Spring Street, in Elizabeth, city officials say. Elizabeth City Public Information Officer Ruby Contreras said the car accident was caused by one of the vehicles failing to obey the red traffic signal.The cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy, according to Contreras.
