The multi-Grammy award singer Mariah Carey shared the devastating news of losing her sister and mother at the same time in a statement.

Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.
"I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed," added the 55 year old singermother 87, was a Juilliard-trained opera singer and vocal coach before she married Alfred Roy Carey. Her parents divorced when she was 3 years old, she has a younger brother Morgan.@BeeTheeHottie said on X: “Praying for Mariah Carey and her family. Losing a mother is tough, but a sister on the same day… unimaginable.

I pray her faith provides her with comfort.”Carey’s mom, Patricia, was an opera singer and sang with her daughter on several occasions. They had a complicated relationship. In her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey”, the singer said:"Like many aspects of my life, my journey with my mother has been full of contradictions and competing realities. It's a never been only black-and-white — it's been a whole rainbow of emotions.
"Our relationship is a prickly rope of pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration and disappointment.”
