Namibia has issued a cease a desist for Starlink as it reportedly has been operating in the Southern African country without a license.
Criminal cases have been opened for Namibians who have purchased Starlink kits and have been using them.
“Following an investigation, CRAN has established that Starlink is operating a network within Namibia without the required telecommunications license,” the authority said in a statement seen by Starlink has been undergoing regulatory processes in Namibia and submitted an application to receive an operation license in the country, but as of yet hasn’t received one. It seems people in Namibia are buying and using Starlink kits.
“The benefit of purchasing from Paratus directly is that Paratus Botswana carries stock in-country and offers 24/7 telephonic support, installation services, and technical advice, such as integration into existing networks and warranty returns,” the company said in a statement to Hypertext at the time.
