Gossip blogger Musa Khawula has withdrawn his bail application amidst new charges, including hate speech, crimen injuria, and a second undisclosed charge. His lawyer cited an ongoing case in Carletonville court as a reason for abandoning the bail application. Khawula remains in custody with investigations ongoing for both cases.
Khawula is charged with contravention of Section 19 of the Cyber Crimes Act 19 of 2020, hate speech and crimen injuria after allegedly posting defamatory comments about public figures, including businessman Ze Nxumalo, on his X page.
