Angela Jarvis and Vicky Donn say the move would be a 'drop in the ocean' after their daughters were attacked following horrific campaigns of online abuse.

The mums of two girls who were attacked after suffering horrific levels of abuse online have spoken out over a potential move to ban mobile phones in Scots schools.

Vicky's 12-year-old daughter, Kaylynn, was ambushed on a bus on her way home from school in Ladybank, Fife, in October last year after being on the receiving end of an "endless trail" of abuse online.Vicky, 36, told the Record: "As long as perpetrators have access to a phone and your number, bullying is always going to take place. Removing phones from schools is only moving the problem from one place to another.

"It was an endless trail of abuse for her. The issues around bullying are complex and interlocked - you can't tackle one aspect without trying to tackle it as a whole." The 44-year-old said: "In my case, it is a security to know your child can get in touch with you if they are at school. Abbie would suffer panic attacks and would hide in the toilet becasue she didn't have the confidence to go to the teachers.

The Scottish Governemnt said that Education Secretary Jenny Gilruth is "keen to examine the evidence" on banning mobile phones from schools before a decision is made.
