A mum has been given permission to convert an abandoned 15th-century castle into a luxury wedding venue. Nicole Rudder purchased Garrion Tower for £250,000 and plans to invest £12 million in restoring the historic building. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

A mum who bought an abandoned 15th-century castle has been given the go-ahead to transform the dilapidated building into a £12million five-star wedding venue .

After submitting plans to the council in August, she received the go-ahead last week by North Lanarkshire Council. The mum of two, from Chapelhall near Airdrie, said: “We really plan to bring it back to life and make it a real fixture for the local community again. “People thought I was mad but I knew when I saw it I could make this place something special again. I just fell in love with it.”
