Multiple Eastern Health Emergency Services Closed Next Week Due to Lack of Staff

Emergency services are unavailable for an extended period in two Eastern Health facilities, while a third will be closed for a 24-hour period.

Starting Monday, August 1 at 8:00 a.m. and lasting until August 8th, emergency services at the Dr. William H. Newhook Community Health Centre in Whitbourne will be closed due to a lack of staff. Also starting August 1, the U.S. Memorial Health Centre in St. Lawrence will be closed for ten days, reopening on Wednesday, August 10. Family practice clinics and outpatient lab services will continue by appointment.

The Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre will be closed from Monday, at 8:00 a.m. until Tuesday, at 8:00 a.m. Patients requiring immediate attention are asked to call 9-1-1 or go directly to the nearest emergency department.
