A multi-vehicle accident in Mpumalanga, South Africa, resulted in a fatal collision involving a Volkswagen Polo, an LDV bakkie, and a second Volkswagen Polo. The first Volkswagen Polo caught fire after colliding with the bakkie, leaving its occupants deceased. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

Tragedy struck on the morning of February 10, 2025, on a stretch of road between Karino and Nelsville near Mbombela, Mpumalanga , when a multi-vehicle collision claimed the lives of several individuals. According to reports, the accident involved at least three vehicles: a Volkswagen Polo, an LDV bakkie, and a second Volkswagen Polo. The initial crash occurred when the first Volkswagen Polo collided with the LDV bakkie.

The impact was so severe that the sedan caught fire, leaving the occupants trapped and burnt beyond recognition. A second Volkswagen Polo subsequently collided with the wreckage of the other two vehicles, further complicating the scene. The driver of the bakkie sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in Mbombela, while the driver of the second sedan suffered minor injuries. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident, but preliminary reports suggest that one of the vehicles may have lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic. Following the tragic incident, Mpumalanga Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie, issued a statement urging motorists to exercise extreme caution while on the road. 'Being safe on the road is every motorist's responsibility,' Macie stressed. 'Every person must comply with the rules and also exercise caution at all times while driving.' The MEC extended her condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a swift recovery to those injured in the accident
