Thousands of voting machines and equipment are now being tested in Franklin County in anticipation of next month's general election.
"We check every machine to ensure that everything is working correctly," said Franklin County Board of Elections Director Antone White. This week, more than a dozen teams made up of a Democrat and a Republican at The Franklin County Board of Elections began testing equipment to make sure it's in working order.
"Checking each piece of equipment to ensure it's operational and that our ballot counters are tabulating correctly on election day," said White.An extra layer of protection has been added to the Board of Elections warehouse this year, electronic security fencing that surrounds all voting equipment."If someone breaks the barrier," said White, "we get an alarm, we get a phone call, we have cameras in the warehouse 24/7/.
3,269 voting machines, containing 1,113 different ballots, will be sent to 888 precincts at 303 polling locations.Upon delivery, poll workers match barcode information to confirm they received the correct delivery."People can be assured their votes will be counted correctly and accurately
