Election day is just 34 days away, and the Franklin County Board of Elections is preparing now for early voters.

Starting Wednesday, teams of workers will begin inspecting voting machines, testing for logic, accuracy and efficiency. Each team will be made up of one Democrat and one Republican, and will work together to confirm votes are being cleared in every machine and not being compromised. "It's done in a bi-partisan way so that we know that when we deliver that equipment to those locations, that it will work as it's supposed to work on election day," Franklin County Board of Elections spokesman Aaron Sellers said.Poll worker safety top of mind as Election Day nears

"Anything that might come up is certainly something that's easily fixable," Sellers said. "There may be something that's not right, be the incorrect ballot style on a particular piece of machinery. That's why we do this." There are more than 900,000 registered voters in Franklin County, the largest county in the state. Sellers added that this is the largest number of registered voters the board has ever seen.
