The Quezon City Veterinary Office said that some 1500 from 482 hog raisers in Barangay Payatas have been culled while 369 out of 909 pigs in Barangay Bagong Silangan were killed in a continuing bid to stop the African Swine Flu (ASF) epidemic in the city.

City veterinarian, Dr. Anamarie Cabel, said aside from the financial assistance of P3,000 per pig, the city government has also looked for alternative livelihood options for the affected backyard hog raisers.
