Mindanao Authority Development (MinDA) Chief Emmanuel Piñol on Tuesday blasted Agriculture Secretary William for blaming the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak on him during his time as the agency’s head.
“To say that I was disappointed by the accusation of a fellow Cabinet official under this administration is an understatement,” Piñol said in a Facebook post.
The former DA secretary responded and noted that the Bureau of Animal Industry or World Organization for Animal Health had not recorded or reported ASF as being present in the country in the months of May, June or July. He noted that the first case was recorded in August. But he did point out that the DA-Bureau of Animal Industry Quarantine Teams at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport intercepted pork products that were suspected of containing ASF.
