The high-profile trial against Modack and 14 other co-accused who face more than 100 charges - some related to the murder of top cop Charl Kinnear - started in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.

Modack believes a plot was developed to keep him behind bars after he took over security contracts for businesses located in the Cape Town CBD through to Camps Bay.

Modack is also accused of orchestrating the murders of Nico Heerschap - the father of a Hawks officer bouncer Pitsou Falanga, tow truck driver Richard Joseph and the attempted murder of defence attorney William Booth. Modack's lawyer Mohamed Sibda on Tuesday told the Western Cape High Court that his client took over the security at various hotels, Food Lover's stores, apartment blocks, jewellery shops and most importantly night clubs in 2017.

Sibda said when Modack put a stop to the sale of drugs in nightclubs he attracted enemies - including alleged underworld gang boss Jerome"Donkie" Booysen.Modack also alleges he was framed for Kinnear's murder in September 2019, by corrupt senior police officers who feared Kinnear was about to expose them.

After being questioned about Modack's allegations, Sibda told judge Robert Henney that he would provide the court with evidence as the trial proceeds.
