MLA Leela Aheer cleared of alleged infraction of political donation law
UCP MLA Leela Aheer arrived at the McDougall Centre in Calgary on May 19, 2022. UCP MLAs gathered the day after Premier Jason Kenney said he did not have enough support in a leadership review to carry on as party leader.
The judge found the investigation was unfair to Aheer because she wasn't given a chance to provide evidence that would have cleared her of the alleged infractions. "It took a really long time to get this ruling, but I'm very grateful," she said in an interview with CBC News. "We knew that we were clear of this and that we would be exonerated."
