Mitsubishi has finally unveiled the replacement for its aging ASX, the Outlander Sport. This new model will gradually phase out the existing ASX and will be positioned as Mitsubishi's entry-level SUV.

Mitsubishi has finally unveiled the replacement for its aging ASX , a model that has been eagerly anticipated by car enthusiasts. Initially revealed as the Outlander Sport at the Nampo Agricultural Expo in Bothaville, South Africa, last year, the new model will gradually phase out the existing ASX as stock runs low. The Outlander Sport will be positioned as Mitsubishi's entry-level SUV , slotted below the Eclipse Cross in the company's lineup.

The production version of the XFC Concept, which debuted in Jakarta, Indonesia, will be primarily targeted at Asian markets. Manufactured at Mitsubishi's Bekasi Plant, the Outlander Sport boasts dimensions of 4,390 mm in length, a 2,650 mm wheelbase, a height of 1,660 mm, and a width of 1,810 mm. While it offers seating for five and shares the same 222 mm of ground clearance as the Xforce, it lacks a full all-wheel-drive system. Powering the Outlander Sport is a familiar 1.5-litre normally aspirated petrol engine, sourced from the Xpander, delivering 77kW and 141Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a CVT transmission as standard.Mitsubishi claims a top speed of 175 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 13.6 seconds. However, fuel consumption figures were not disclosed. The Outlander Sport range kicks off with the GL trim, which features 17-inch alloy wheels, electrically folding mirrors, LED headlights, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster display, auto door lock/unlock, and a six-speaker sound system. Stepping up to the GLS adds safety features such as Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The mid-range Aspire variant boasts 18-inch alloy wheels, upgraded to imitation leather upholstery, and dual-zone climate control. It also includes a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system, an eight-inch digital instrument cluster, white fabric stitch work, a hands-free electric tailgate, auto on/off LED headlights, LED fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers, and a drive mode selector with Wet, Normal, Gravel, and Mud settings. Notably, the Aspire omits the Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Change Assist systems found in higher trims. Finally, the flagship Exceed adds the aforementioned safety systems and an eight-speaker Yamaha sound system. Customers can choose from five exterior colours: Pearl White, Red Metallic, Graphite Grey Metallic, Blade Silver Metallic, and Energetic Yellow Metallic. Every Outlander Sport comes standard with a five-year unlimited kilometer warranty and a three-year/45,000 km service plan
