The project involves four hospital locations – Sydney, North Sydney, Glace Bay and New Waterford. The total value for the entire project is estimated at $1 billion of which $125 million has been spent to date.The features of the redevelopment include: In Glace Bay, the project involves expanding and renovating the Glace Bay Hospital emergency department and surgical services.
The regional project is the first major expansion effort since the facility opened in 1995. The facility is the island’s regional referral and trauma centre. Once the redevelopment project is completed, the existing facility will also undergo renovations.
