A yellow alert has been issued
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning in Nottinghamshire as storms could cause flooding and disruption. The weather service said thunderstorms developing across the county could cause problems from Sunday, June 25, between 1pm and 9pm.
The forecaster's map puts almost all of Nottinghamshire within the area which could be impacted by the storm. People should expect a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings and temporary outdoor structures from floodwater, lightning strikes, large hail or strong winds.
The Met Office also explained there is a small chance some communities could become temporarily cut off by flooded roads. Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. Additionally, there is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
