KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Team Northern Ontario is inching toward the championship round at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kamloops, B.C.
Skip Krista McCarville on Monday night guided her team to an 8-6 win over Wild Card No. 3 skip Meghan Walter’s foursome, improving to 4-1 in the process. The team from Thunder Bay and Sudbury erased an early 2-0 lead by Walter, scoring three in the second to take a 3-2 lead. Down 4-3 in the fourth, McCarville added another deuce, then stole a point in the seventh to go up 6-4. She’d add two more in the ninth to take an 8-5 lead.
McCarville, lead Sarah Potts, second Ashley Sipplala and third Kendra Lilly, have one game on Tuesday, taking on Kerry Galusha and the Northwest Territories in the evening draw at the Sandman Centre.Northern Ontario wraps up the round robin on Wednesday with games against Newfoundland and Labrador and Yukon.
