It's a matter of limiting the losses.
Team Northern Ontario did just that on Sunday, winning once, a 9-6 decision over Casey Scheidegger's wild-card squad, before dropping a 7-5 result to Ontario's Rachel Homan later in the day. Skip Krista McCarville took control of her match against Scheidegger in the eighth, scoring two to go up 8-5. She added a steal of one in the ninth to extend her lead to four, all but putting it out of reach.
Against Homan, the foursome, including lead Sarah Potts, second Ashley Sippala and Sudbury third Kendra Lilly, were up 5-4 through seven, but Homan score a pair in the eighth to take a 6-5 lead and stole one in the ninth to go up by two. The Northern Ontario rink sits at 2-1 heading into a crucial match on Monday morning againts New Brunswick's Andrea Kelly . They'll be back on the ice in the 9:30 p.m. draw against Wild Card No. 3, skipped by Meghan Walter, whose team is 1-2 after three matches.
