The former Golden Arrows coach expressed his honour at leading the team but emphasised that his position remains provisional. The club has yet to announce a permanent replacement for Mokwena, who has recently joined Wydad Athletic Club.
In his first public comments on the situation, Mngqithi confirmed his interim status while overseeing Sundowns’ pre-season preparations. “Firstly, it’s an honour for one to be given an opportunity to lead the team, though it’s still in the interim,” Mngqithi told SuperSport TV. He highlighted that the pre-season has progressed smoothly, with few injuries impacting the team. “Fortunately, we did not even get any injuries in the process,” he added.

He joined Sundowns from University of Pretoria in 2021, but his time with the Tshwane giants was marked by a series of loans. Mohamme, who had loan stints with Swallows FC and Sekhukhune United, impressed during his recent time with Sekhukhune. “He is with Sekhukhune now on a permanent deal. It’s a two-year deal,” confirmed Mohamme’s representative, Mike Makaab. This permanent transfer offers Mohamme a new opportunity to showcase his skills in a stable environment.Sekhukhune United has been proactive in the transfer market, aiming to strengthen their squad following a significant player turnover.
