A three\u002Dvehicle collision in southern Alberta on Friday left one man dead and four other people injured.
In a release, RCMP say a pickup truck, a SUV and a semi truck were all involved in the collision at the intersection of Highway 3 and Highway 280.
According to police, the semi-truck was moving westbound on Highway 3 when it rear ended the SUV and the pickup truck at the intersection. A 62-year-old man who was driving the pickup truck died at the scene. A 62-year-old female passenger in that vehicle was airlifted by STARS air ambulance to Foothills Medical Centre with serious, life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old woman, and her two-year-old female passenger were both transported to Lethbridge by ambulance with unknown injuries.Piikani Nation RCMP, Fort MacLeod RCMP and Pincher Creek RCMP and fire services attended the scene. Police say Highway 3 was closed for several hours while an investigation took place. Neither drugs nor alcohol are considered a factor in this collision.
