38-year-old serial shoplifter Daniel Quinlan has been banned from going to Crewe town centre or the Grand Junction Retail Park for five years.
Police said he is a ‘persistent shoplifter who blatantly steals in order to fund his addictions’ and that they asked for the order to protect shops.
In addition, Quinlan is not allowed to be under the influence of any drunk or drugs in any public place. Sergeant Steve Tandy, of Crewe Local Policing Unit, said: ‘While we have previously attempted to engage with him, there comes a point when you have to say enough is enough and take additional action to protect stores.‘The ongoing financial crisis has had a significant impact on businesses and the last thing that shops in Crewe need is to continue to be targeted by a serial shoplifter like Quinlan.
‘They are applied for separately to prosecutions for criminal offences as a last resort, and I am pleased to say that we have seen a significant reduction of offending in Cheshire from those who are subject to a CBO.
