Wide areas of greater Joburg will be hit with water outages and disruptions from next week – these are all the suburbs affected and what to expect.
Water utility Rand Water will kick off its 37-day maintenance programme on Saturday , with the bulk of disruptions to water services starting on Monday .
The extensive infrastructure maintenance programme will run from 22 June to 29 July 2024 and will impact major water systems across Gauteng at various levels over different time periods. While the project’s implementation will kick off on 22 June 2024 and commence in Mogale City Local Municipality, Rand Water said that normal pumping will not be affected at this stage as only one meter will be impacted.
However, when the maintenance hits the Eikenhof and Zwartkopjes Systems on Monday, residents across greater Joburg can expect to be affected.On 24 June, pumping at the Eikenhof Pumping Station will be reduced to 50% for eight hours and later increased to 67% for the next 64 hours.On 24 June 2024, pumping at Zwartkopjes Pumping Station will be reduced to 50% for 27 hours.Pumping at the Palmiet System will not be affected during the implementation of the project on 28 June in Ekurhuleni.
