Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison makes his State of the City Address to the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce at the Ramada in Trenton, January 27, 2023.
He commended the work of community’s Warming Centre which is open nightly this winter, noting the increased need for support for homelessness and mental health and addictions is the biggest change he’s seen since he first became mayor in 2014.“And, and it consumes a lot of people and it, and it breaks your heart, it does. So we’ve gotta continue to deal with it and hopefully we do win some.”
Harrison praised last year’s opening of the Community Health Centre on Catherine Street in Trenton for bringing improved access to services and the recruitment work of Docs By The Bay which brought two new doctors to Quinte West in 2022 and is currently fielding interest from seven others.
