Police dispersed a crowd of looters who descended on a building in Hammarsdale, west of Durban, early on Sunday morning. A source in law enforcement who spoke on condition of anonymity said the facility was attacked on Tuesday and extensively looted. Looters, he said, returned to the building on Sunday morning. A fire was set before the crowd was dispersed.
Their action as part of the 67 minutes to commemorate the life and times of the late president Nelson Mandela, This comes after Mams Mall in Mahube Valley was looted earlier this week, by thousands of people, according to security guards who witnessed the rampant theft. The organization condemned all looting that had taken place throughout the region and said it would continue to fight those who masqueraded as Zuma supporters but had sinister intentions of stealing and vandalizing property.Ramaphosa said that the government was “reviewing the situation” in relation to the failures in the security cluster but would not say more. Earlier he thanked the community for defending the mall from attack amid the evident failure of the police.
